By the 1970s, fascinating cars from Europe were heading over to the UK and few were more unusual than the little Dutch-made Daf 55. Produced between 1967-72 it featured continuously variable transmission (CVT or Variomatic as it was known). Available as a 2-door saloon, a 3-door estate or a 2-door coupe, a total of 164,231 DAF 55s were built. Volvo took over Daf in 1975.
