The arrival of a new Volkswagen coupe is a rare event, and in this case a welcome one. The five-door Arteon, a very recent addition to the UK market, is one place above the Passat in VW’s range, and is actually built alongside Passats in a factory in northern Germany.

As we’ll see, it’s a roomy, comfortable car. It’s also significant in that its racy appearance conforms to a new design language which will be used for future Volkswagens.

There are many other interesting things to say about the Arteon, so let’s get cracking.
