Motorists are often disappointed when they can’t match official MPG figures for their cars which are generated under laboratory conditions.
France’s PSA Group has taken the brave step of publishing real-world fuel consumption data for all its Peugeot, Citroen and DS models.
The readings for the cars were taken on public roads, covering around 60 miles of mixed conditions. To paint an accurate picture, the vehicles were loaded with luggage, passengers and had the air conditioning switched on. The data is available to view via websites set up for each brand.
We’ve compared PSA’s real-world figures with the Official EU fuel consumption (combined cycle) for each car. As you will see, the fuel economy motorists get in real driving conditions is around 20% lower than claimed miles per gallon, but full marks to the PSA Group for being so transparent…
