Arsenal may have started the season poorly, but the players can take consolation in the supercars that they drive. In 2014, they entered a three-year partnership with French carmaker Citroen. Arsenal’s automotive sponsors have done promotional work with a few of the players and their relationship seems strong. However, the players on the team do not just exclusively drive the French firm’s cars. Browse this gallery to see out which cars these legendary Gunners have bought.
Ozil's Ferrari
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is an attacking midfielder whose been with the team since 2013. In 2012 before he joined the squad, he was given a ticket for double parking his dark blue Ferrari 458 Italia.
Mesut's super-powered Mercedes
Özil has been spotted travelling to his Arsenal training sessions in a Mercedes G63 AMG version which cost him £130,000. Although his G63 is not as fast as his Ferrari it certainly can move and it can blast down roads from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds.
Walcott's SUV
Similarly to his teammate, Arsenal striker Theo Walcott also has a Ferrari 458 Italia except that his one is black. He has many more cars in his collection including a Volkswagen Touareg. Theo seems to likes to having a choice of both speed and function from his cars which some could say reflects his style of play on the pitch.
Walcustomisations
Walcott owns a Ford Mustang, a Mercedes ML63 AMG and an Audi R8. All of these cars have been customised to his specs, which Walcott appears to be very keen on.
Ramsey's Rare Car
Arsenal’s Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a well-known car fan but not many people have ever seen him driving around in his super-fast Mercedes SLS supercar. It does 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds and boasts a top speed of 199mph. The SLS was a limited production car, so it’s become quite a rare model. Perhaps this is why Ramsey felt he just had to snap it up.
Mini Upgrade
Arsenal’s French defensive midfielder, Francis Coquelin, has previously travelled to his training sessions in a Mini Cooper S. However, in more recent time his travel time to and from training sessions must have had quickened up because he bought an Audi R8 supercar. His R8 can do a blistering 205mph at top speed.
Arsenal's Sanchez Survived Barcelona
Chilean Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez, also used to own an Audi R8 during his time at his previous club, Barcelona. However, he was lucky to be alive when he ended up writing it off in a very serious crash in 2013.
Bellerin's Makeover
Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin has played for Arsenal since 2011. He bought a Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe a few years back. His car has a 576bhp 5.5-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine and can go from 0-62mph in just 4.3 seconds. In 2015 it was given a makeover by renowned car customisers Yiannimize. They repainted it in satin pearl white and gave it glossy black wheels and red brake callipers.
Football is his Family
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain plays as a winger for the Gunners and he’s regularly been spotted driving his Range Rover. Perhaps he needs the car which is renowned as being quite roomy because he needs to fit his friends and family into his car when they go away on trips. They do share a lot of similar passions anyway. Alex’s dad Mark and his uncle Neville were both professional footballers and his brother Christian has been inducted into the Portsmouth youth academy. His family is all about football and he needs a car that can fit them all in too.
Danny's Unwell S3
Danny Welbeck has played for Arsenal since 2014. He primarily plays as a forward but can also play in a winger position. He’s diverse and so is his car, his Audi S3. The S3 is a practical car built more for function than speed but it can go fast and it accelerates from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. However, it seems Welbeck had some issues with keeping it in good form. In 2011 he was slapped with a fine and three penalty points on his licence after police found out after he had a car crash that his S3 also had two defective tyres with insufficient tread on them.
Giroud's Audi S5
Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud is a French forward who’s been with the London-based club since 2012. He owns an Audi S5, which is a two-door, four-seater, saloon, which Audi claims can bolt from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.
Giroud's Day Out
In a 2013 interview, Giroud explains that the first thing that he used to do as part of his morning routine was to hop into his Mercedes C63 MG and go for a drive.
Happy 18th Gnabry
Serge Gnabry must have been happy when he turned 18 back in 2013. He was given a free car by Mercedez-Benz. The footballer was so overjoyed he took to Twitter and posted this photo of him standing alongside it. Your average new driver does not get a Mercedes for their first ride, so Gnabry must at least felt a little luckier than most.
Arsenal Over Everything
Chuba Akpom is a striker for Arsenal and has been with the club since he was six years old. In recent seasons he has been on loan to clubs such as Hull and Coventry, but last year he signed a long-term Arsenal contract. Maybe this is why he bought this premium Range Rover Evoque Dynamic.
Wilshere: 90k a Week
Jack Wilshere made history in 2008 by being Arsenal’s youngest ever league debut player at 16 years and 256 days old. Wilshere confirmed his position in the first team squad and he now gets a salary of £90,000-a-week. Wilshere has an impressive car. In 2011, Wilshere he bought an £80,000Mercedes SL500 convertible which cost him £80,000.
Archie Mobile
Interviewed in 2014, Wilshere mentions that at the time he was driving his Porsche Cayenne, a family car after the birth of his son Archie.
Wilshuracan
Wilshere poses with supercar Lamborghini Huracan, a legendary motor that can do 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds.
Wilshpit or Not?
In 2016 Wilshere became the subject of a police investigation over claims made by his 71-year old neighbour Alun Cathcart who said the football ace he had spit on him as he drove past in his £90,000 Range Rover. Wilshire denied the claim and no action was taken.
Xhaka's X6
Granit Xhaka is Arsenal’s newest signing who drives a blacked-out BMW X6.
Twin Wins
Londoner Kieran Gibbs plays as a left-back for Arsenal and owns a white Range Rover Evoque. Not bad for a player who can’t get in the team.
Per-mission to Drive?
In 2015, Per Mertesacker was left shaken after losing control of a car on the M1 near England’s Watford. As a result, he missed the game and was given time off to recuperate. He owns a black and red trimmed VW Golf.
Arsenal X Citroen
In 2015 Laurent Koscielny alongside, Mathieu Flamini, David Ospina and Theo Walcott , took part in an exclusive Citroen photoshoot to celebrate 60 years of the firm’s DS model.
Laurent Koscielny's free DS
In 2015, Koscielny was pictured driving a white DS too. It appears that because he helped to promote the DS model that he and his teammates were given free ones.
Nacho's Audi S-Fine
Arsenal full-back Nacho Monreal was spotted driving his Audi S5 by authorities who discovered it was not registered correctly.
Jenkinson's Mercedes
Carl Jenkinson plays in the right-back position for Arsenal. Jenkinson has Scandinavian roots. He has an English father and a Finnish mother, and has represented both England and Finland at youth international level. He’s the owner of a Mercedes C220 AMG Line Saloon.
Mercedestolen
Arsenal goalkeeping star David Ospina was shocked in 2015 when he returned home to discover that his London mansion home had been robbed and his £100k Mercedes had been stolen by burglars. His massive house which contains five reception rooms and five bedrooms was raided by thieves who found his car keys inside and used them to rob his motor.
First-Choice Cech
Petr Cech used to play for Chelsea FC but he’s now become Arsenal’s first-choice keeper. It’s no surprise as he’s widely acknowledged as one of the best keepers in the game. As somebody who relies on his consistency to upkeep his reputation, he has a selection of similarly durable high-performance cars and supercars.
He’s known to own a Lexus RX which is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV.
Cech Always Triple Checks
Although the fracture in his skull, which he received playing for his former club Chelsea has healed, Cech continues to wear the protective gear he’s become famous for. In an interview with the BBC, he attributed this to being born a triplet which means his skull bone is thinner than others. His taste in cars seems just as strong as his new teammates though and he can be found cruising in his Audi R8 when not on the pitch.
Henry's A Collector
Legend Thierry Henry is now a sports pundit and big car collector which includes a Mercedes-Benz SL, Ferrari Enzo and a Dodge Charger SRT8.
Henry's Va Va Voom
Those Renault Clio adverts where Henry exclaimed, “What’s French for Va Va Voom?” were a hit and helped him to become famous with an audience beyond football.
